Student Academic Clubs

There a number of Mission College Associated Student Body (ASB) Clubs on campus.

I recommend joining ASB clubs that are related to your field of study or are mainly academic. Such clubs can prove to be beneficial in your academic career.

Alpha Gamma Sigma (AGS) -- This is the Mission College branch of the California Community Colleges Honor Society. AGS focuses on promoting academic success and community service. I am currently serving as one of its advisors.

Associated Student Body -- This is the student organization that represents students concerns to the Mission College administration.

Fire Science & EMT -- This student group discusses fire and emergency medical services issues and supports students interested in those fields. Students interested in joining it can contact the club advisor, Rod Pavao at 408-855-5391. They do not yet have an active Web site.

MC Health Occupations Club -- This student group supports nursing students. Students interested in joining it can contact the club advisor, Carol Brockmeier, at 408-855-5549. They do not yet have an active Web site.

Student Non-Academic Clubs -- There are a number of other worthwhile clubs on campus. Visit ASB Clubs to find out more about them.

Informal Student Study Groups

I currently support two informal study groups on campus: The Writers Workshop Group and the Teaching Discussion Group. Both groups meet once a month. If there is enough student interest, these groups might eventually apply to be recognized as ASB Clubs. If you wish to join either group, please contact me.

The Writing Workshop Group -- Students interested in becoming published writers meet to discuss their writing, to learn how to become published, and to share writing resources.

The Teaching Discussion Group -- Students interested in becoming K-12 teachers, or college-level instructors, meet to discuss instructional theory and to share teaching resources.
