News Article Links

Several people have expressed interest in reading news articles that I wrote as a reporter for the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal.

This page links to those articles available online, breaking them down into different categories, then presented in chronological order.

This page is a work in progress, as linking to all my online articles will take quite some time.

Note: I am not satisfied with all the articles listed. Published writing is affected by the decisions of editors, the pressures of deadlines, and the limited space to report a story. Add to that my own limitations and strengths as a writer, and occasionally, an article might not meet my expectations.

Still, I am grateful for having the opportunity to report mainly on worthy causes: non-profits, education, science, and the arts -- topics not usually covered by a business newspaper.

I am also proud of the overall accuracy of these articles, based on the positive feedback I received from the people I interviewed.

Non-profit Organizations and Efforts

"Classrooms Preparing Young Entrepreneurs for Work World" -- Jan. 19, 2001 -- National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship's business classes for teens.

"A Click of the Mouse Means Money in the Bank for Charities" -- Jan. 4, 2002 -- How the e-commerce firm Entango facilitated online donations.

Profiles

"The Evangelist of Online Usability" -- June 8, 2001 -- A focus on Web design researcher Jakob Nielsen. One of my favorite articles.

Human Interest

These articles appeared in a weekly column I wrote, which covered 2 to 3 different events of interest.

"Symphony Offering Audience Tune-Ups with Its Tunesmiths" -- Jan. 19, 2001
A column on San Jose Symphony performance lectures, the Lego & Steven Spielberg MovieMaker Set, and an online Urban Legends and E-mail Hoaxes Quiz.

"SharkByte Stars Swimming Back to Downtown San Jose for a Second Look" -- Jan. 4, 2002
A column on the SharkByte statues, sugar in meteorites, and the San Jose Museum of Art's live poetry series.
