Course Description:

This course covers the basic elements of information competency by introducing students to the nature of research and the role of the library in research, including finding, analyzing, organizing and presenting information and the legal and ethical aspects of research. You will be introduced to a variety of informational resources including print, media, electronic formats and the World Wide Web.

Orientation Schedule:

If you are new to distance learning, plan to attend one of the voluntary half-hour orientation meetings on Aug 27, 2007 at 12:30 pm or Aug 29, 2007 at 6:30 pm in the Mission College Library Instruction room located inside the Library.

Advisories:

Skills in computer keyboarding, English and reading should be at a level to be eligible for Computer Applications 70, English 108A, and Reading 053. (Note: Students who are not eligible for these advisories have trouble passing this course). In additon, To successfully navigate this course you must be computer competent in the following: Miscrosoft Word, Email, including sending and receiving attachments, and Web browsers.
