Orientation Schedule:

You may attend either session: Wednesday, August 29, 3:00pm - 4:50pm, room N2-501, or Wednesday, August 29, 7:00pm - 8:50pm, room SCI-140. Both sessions cover the same material.

On Campus Requirements:

We will meet on campus five (5) times during the semester, for orientation at the begining of the semester, a review session prior to the first midterm, two midterm exams, and a final exam. You may attend the orientation and review session at either 3pm or 7pm. Both sessions cover the same material. Midterm and final exams may be taken at 3pm or 5pm or 7pm. Orientation: August 29, 3pm or 7pm. Review for Midterm: September 26, 3pm or 7pm. First Midterm: October 3, 3pm or 5pm or 7pm. Second Midterm: November 7, 3pm or 5pm or 7pm. Final Exam: December 12, 3pm or 5pm or 7pm.

Exam Requirements and Location:

There will be two midterm exams and one final exam administered at Mission College. Three different exam times are available. You may attend at any of the three times: First Midterm: October 3, 3pm or 5pm or 7pm. Second Midterm: November 7, 3pm or 5pm or 7pm. Final Exam: December 12, 3pm or 5pm or 7pm.

Outline of Topics to be Covered:

This introductory course in Accounting will give you both a theoretical understanding and application of that understanding using real world situations. This will include understanding in vocabulary, financial statements, the accounting cycle including adjusting entries and closing entries, accounting information systems, cash, internal control, accounts and notes receivable, merchandise inventory, plant assets and depreciation, current liabilities, payroll accounting, the time value of money, generally accepted accounting principles, and ethics. After satisfactory completion of this course you will be able to properly maintain sets of books for both service and merchandising businesses. You also will be able to utilize accounting information to make sound business decisions.
