Course Description: Meets for eight weeks from Oct 19 – Dec 13. This course covers the basic elements of information competency by introducing students to the nature of research and the role of the library in research, including finding, analyzing, organizing and presenting information and the legal and ethical aspects of research. You will be introduced to a variety of informational resources including print, media, electronic formats and the World Wide Web. The credit from Library 10 is transferable to the California State University system (CSU) and the University of California system (UC). It may also be transferable to other colleges and universities, but you must check with each individual institution. Orientation Schedule: This course does not have a mandatory orientation, however, if you are new to ANGEL and distance learning, plan to attend the VOLUNTARY half-hour orientation meetings on October 19, 2009 at 6:30 pm in the Mission College Library Instruction room located inside the Library. Please note that this orientation is NOT mandatory. |
On Campus Requirements: This course is conducted completely online; however, you will be required to physically go to a library in order to complete the homework assignment for Week 4. You may use the Mission College Library or a public, college, or university library near your home. |
Exam Requirements and Location: All exams are taken online. |
Advisories: Reading 53, English 108A, and Computer Applications 70. Please note that students who are not eligible for these advisories may have trouble passing this course. |
