Teaching and Research Interests
I enjoy teaching foundation classes in psychology. I have had extensive training and experience designing focus groups, surveys and complex data sets using both SPSS and StatView software applications. I plan to pursue further research regarding experimental psychology, social conformity, human sexuality, substance abuse, and harm reduction in at risk populations.
PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND
I have been teaching at Mission College since 1999. As an instructor, I hope to motivate and encourage students in their educational endeavors. In the past, my employment background included service as a Group Supervisor/Counselor for a juvenile detention center in Santa Cruz County and a Substance Abuse and Life Skills Instructor for the Santa Clara County Department of Corrections. Equally, as a Program Manager for AIDS Resources Information & Services, I have been involved in all aspects of operating a non-profit agency that provided education and services to the residents of Santa Clara County. For example, within a four-year period, I was able to establish a number of community based programs that provided numerous avenues for disenfranchised populations to obtain health related services.
